Billions Season 7 Release Date

After five seasons, fans of the longest-running drama on Showtime, Billions, had to say goodbye to their favorite character, hedge fund tycoon Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis). But after his comeback in season 7, everything is about to change.

Remember that the protagonist left the program in season six, forcing a change in direction as we watched his longtime nemesis Mike Prince (Corey Stoll), take over as the new CEO of Axe Capital. Naturally, it didn’t take long for former US attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) to track down his most recent adversary—this time, Prince.

Since the show’s 2016 debut, co-creators Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross Sorkin have gained notoriety for drawing inspiration for their ethically ambivalent group of characters from individuals like Steve A. Cohen, Preet Bharara, Elon Musk, and other one-percenters.

Although Rhoades spent a brief period of time in jail while attempting to overthrow Prince in season six, you can bet that their power struggle will continue in season seven. Wealth is ultimately waɼ. There are further uncertainties surrounding the upcoming season of Billions as it prepares for its next episode.

Most significantly, Lewis is making a significant comeback. The actor broke the news that he would be rejoining the cast of Billions and reviving his role for season seven during a recent appearance on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert. He announced:

“Axe is back, And it’s exciting. He’s not been around for a couple seasons but he’s back.”

Prior to his departure at the end of season five, he told The New York Times:

“there’s an opportunity maybe for me to return. But for now, broadly speaking, Axe has been vanquished.”

A year later, he appeared on a London set with his former co-stars Giamatti, Siff, and Costabile.

Billions Season 7 Plot

There was some victory in the season six finale, “Cold Storage,” but it’s not obvious who the true victor was. Prince’s fortune of untaxed cryptocurrency was revealed when Rhoades finally succeeded in breaking into one of his black boxes, destroying his potential presidential bid.

Rhoades, however, was taken into custody soon after for obtaining the relevant evidence with the aid of a fictitious warrant. The additional drives belonging to Prince were then confiscated, but no one was able to decipher the code to access the contents.

Prince physically trembles at the thought that he lost a staggering $3.5 billion while simultaneously getting away with tax evasion. Levien told Forbes:

“We were initially focused on hedge fund billionaires who were press shy and didn’t want to be written up for being so rich, We’ve seen a shift to a more public style of billionaire who wants to influence the public discourse. That’s where Mike Prince comes from.”

Setting the foundation for season seven, the cat-and-mouse game is anticipated to continue now that Rhoades has been sprung from jail by Dave (Sakina Jaffrey) and Prince’s image as a “good billionaire” has been publicly tarnished. However, it seems that Prince won’t let that deter him from achieving his presidential ambition.

Axelrod will probably be in Switzerland, as season five ended with the businessman going into self-imposed exile there to avoid being prosecuted. According to the network, Lewis will star in six out of the 12 episodes slated for season seven. The official logline reads:

“In season seven, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.”
