Day Shift Release Date

John Wick: Chapter 2 and F9: The Fate of the Furious star J. J. Perry is best renowned for his job as a stuntman; nevertheless, he will be directing his first feature picture, Day Shift, a vampire hunting thriller. Writers Shay Hatten and Tyler Tice, who worked on the Netflix original Army of the Dead, contributed to the script. Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) will play the lead role in Day Shift.

This is Perry’s directorial debut, but his significant stunt and martial arts backgrounds can only imply that fans can expect an action-packed movie that is crammed to the brim with real-world practical effects. Jamie Foxx and Peter Baxter, who has previously worked with Perry on several projects, will serve as executive producers alongside Chad Stahelski (John Wick).

Who’s in the Day Shift Cast?

In addition to Jamie Foxx, who has already been mentioned as the film’s star, the rest of the cast is as impressive. Paige, Foxx’s quick-witted daughter, will be played by Zion Broadnax (Abbott Elementary). Although he is included in the cast, Steve Howey (Shameless) does not have a character name or a role in the film, as does everyone else.

Aside from Franco, Meagan Good, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, C. S. Lee, and Natasha Liu, the list of nameless characters also includes C. S. Lee from Dexter and Dave Franco from The Now. Other than the actors who are better known, two of the cast members have filmographies that are more closely aligned with filmmaker J. J. Perry’s own.

Aside from being the Tactical Weapons Trainer for television shows Resident Evil and Hunters and the movie Borderlands, Tetiana Gaidar has also been cast as Sophia in Day Shift. Day Shift will also feature Scott Adkins, who has worked on films like Ip Man 4: The Finale, Accident Man, and Accident Man 2, and will bring his skills in fight choreography and stunt acting to the table. In addition, John Wick: Chapter 4 will feature him.

More Movies You Can Watch Before Day Shift Premieres

The film industry evolves quickly, but not fast enough for film aficionados. In anticipation of Day Shift’s release on August 12, have a look at these great films.

With Tom Holland’s directorial debut, Tom Holland’s Fright Night is a great match for Day Shift. Odd Thomas, starring Anton Yelchin (Odd Thomas), Colin Farrell (The Lobster), and Toni Collette (The Lobster) (Hereditary). Eddie Mintz-Plasse, Charley Brewster’s childhood friend, tries to persuade him to think that his new neighbor, Jerry (Farrell), is a vampire who is responsible for the recent increase in missing persons in Las Vegas area.

Charley begins to take Ed’s disappearance more seriously and learns that Ed was correct the entire time. A Las Vegas showman who has a “questionably expert” background in vampires is needed by Charley to save his family members from Jerry’s sleight of hand, Jane (Collette), and even his girlfriend Amy (Imogen Poots).

Stephen Sommers (The Mummy and The Mummy Returns) directed Van Helsing, a wet dream for fans of legendary and iconic monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, and the wolf-man. Logan actor Hugh Jackman portrays Van Helsing, a legendary 1800s monster-mercenary.

The Vatican dispatches Van Helsing and Carl (David Wenham), a monk of the Holy Order, to examine reports of vampire activity in Transylvania. Anna Valerious (Kate Beckinsale), the last surviving descendant of an ancient and wealthy Romanian family, soon comes into his life. Dracula (Richard Roxburgh) is attempting to create an army to overthrow the world, and the three of them must work together to stop him.

Action-packed and amusing, this film maintains a light-hearted tone throughout, allowing audiences to enjoy themselves while listening to Alan Silvestri’s wonderful score (Forrest Gump).

Van Helsing may be streamed on Peacock, as well as other streaming sites like Amazon or Vudu, and can be purchased or rented.

Before seeing Day Shift, if you haven’t seen Blade or any of the other Blade films, you should do so first. Even though it isn’t an action comedy, the Blade concept revolutionized the vampire movie genre and was inspired by the same-named Marvel Comics protagonist.

In addition to the two sequels, Blade 2 and Blade: Trinity, directed by Stephen Norrington (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), and the planned remake starring Mahershala Ali (The Green Book), this film served as an inspiration for several other projects.

A vampire attacks a pregnant lady, causing her to go into labor as a result of the trauma. To her surprise, she gives birth to a kid, a vampire hunter known as “Blade,” played by Wesley Snipes in the movie (Dolemite Is My Name).

The underground vampire society calls Blade “The Daywalker” since he is immune to vampire weaknesses like garlic, silver, and, most significantly, sunlight due to his mother’s recent bite right before she gave birth to him. His ultimate goal is to rid the world of vampires, even if it means sacrificing his own life.

Netflix will release Day Shift on August 12, 2022, making it a must-see for vampire-hunting fans. Prepare yourself for the next big thing in Netflix’s new vampire-slaying experience by stocking up on garlic and silver.
