Haunted Mansion Release Date

The Walt Disney Company has a history of turning its innovative attractions into full-length motion pictures. The Pirates of the Caribbean film series, which consisted of a total of five films and gave rise to a contemporary pop culture hero in the form of Captain Jack Sparrow, is unquestionably the most well-known and successful example.

Since then, Disney has continuously sought to adapt its amusement park rides into full-length motion pictures. A few examples include The Country Bears (2002), Tomorrowland (2015), and Jungle Cruise (2021). With Hawkeye (2021) directors Bert & Bertie slated to create a Big Thunder Mountain Railroad-based movie, the idea is still going strong.

The Haunted Mansion, however, is the one attraction in the Walt Disney parks that should be a no-brainer to modify. The Haunted Mansion, starring Eddie Murphy, was a 2003 Disney attempt to cash in on the well-liked attraction. With its iconic images and surprisingly rich backstory, it should be the ideal choice for a feature film.

You may anticipate that with a comic like Murphy playing the major part, his interpretation of the voyage would be quite funny. Although the ride has always had a strong sarcastic sense of humor, the movie version lacked the ride’s eerie allure and relied too much on jokes.

In addition, well-known characters like the Hat Box Ghost and the Black Widow Bride were missing from the movie. Former Disneyland employee and Dear White People (2014) director Justin Simien plans to create his own cinematic adaptation of the popular attraction, bringing on board a respected team of creatives and an absolutely great ensemble.

From what was displayed during their attendance at the D23 Expo in 2022, it appears to be a very exciting adventure-horror mashup. Continue reading below to learn more about what was discussed at D23 behind closed doors as well as everything else we currently know…

We do know that the Hatbox Ghost will probably make an appearance among the spirits that are scheduled to visit. Hatbox Ghost, a notorious element of the attraction that was only recently added back to the ride, was strongly hinted at during the event to be played by Jared Leto (Morbius).

We also know that the Bride, a character with a fascinating background, will appear in the movie. The majority of the Haunted Mansion’s “happy haunts” are, well, happy. With the exception of the Bride, they are generally neither evil nor nasty, though they may occasionally give folks a good scare.

Additionally, you can see if the following programs will have more seasons:

It is strongly implied that the woman, who used to go by Constance Hathaway, murdered her husband (or spouses) and is now stalking the estate in search of her next prey. Both of these notorious ghosts are great candidates for the main antagonist.

Who’s Starring in Haunted Mansion?

Most of the big starring actors who will feature, including LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Rosario Dawson, Tiffany Haddish, and Jared Leto, have previously been mentioned. One of the numerous fresh casting announcements made at D23 was Leto, who once more is most likely playing the Hat Box Ghost.

Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice), Dan Levy (Schitt’s Creek), Hasan Minhaj (The Daily Show) as a sketch artist, and Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween Ends) make up the remaining cast.
