Background

Kodak was born in Pompano Beach, Florida, on June 11, 1997. His mother, Marcelene Octave, was from Haiti and had moved there to work. His name when he was born was Dieuson Octave. He legally changed his name to Bill Kahan Kapri.

His mother took care of him at Golden Acres, which is public housing in Pompano Beach. He started rapping in elementary school, and after school, he started recording songs at a trap house nearby.

Kodak was kicked out of school in the fifth grade for fighting, and he was held back in the sixth grade for stealing a car. He said that, in his past, he could either sell drugs or rap.
