Born to basketball coach Louise Traylor Strahan and retired Army Major Gene Willie Strahan, he is the youngest of six children. It was a family tradition for Michael Strahan to follow in the footsteps of his uncle Art, who was also a Texas Southern University defensive end. Professional career
In 1993, the New York Giants drafted Michael Strahan. The ailments he suffered during the season limited his playing time to only six contests. His breakthrough season in 1997 came after several disappointing seasons. He was selected for his first Pro Bowl and was also chosen to the Associated Press’s First Team All-Pro. For his second Pro Bowl appearance and All-Pro selection in 1998, Strahan racked up a total of 15 sacks.
At one point in his career, Strahan played for the New York Giants, helping them reach the NFC Championship game in 2000.
