‘Cobra Kai’ Season 5 Teaser: Johnny Lawrence Front-kicks Through a Surfboard as We Get Premiere Date!

The dry cleaner has given you four months to pick up your karate gi. Thursday night at the 2022 “Netflix Is a Joke” festival, Netflix announced that Season 5 of “Cobra Kai” will be premiered on September 9th. Two nights earlier, at his own “Netflix Is a Joke” event, Dave Chappelle could have used the teens (and adults, of course) at his own “Cobra Kai: Live & Bad Ass” event.

Because he’s in jail, we don’t see Martin Kove’s John Kreese (Martin Kove) in this teaser. As long as Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) is around, kicking-based violence is commonplace.

For those who haven’t seen Season 4, Silver says, “The only thing better than having a full dojo, is having an entire Valley full of dojos.” There’s a karate craze sweeping San Fernando, California, and Cobra Kai is taking full advantage of it.

Ralph Macchio, the original “Karate Kid,” warns Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) that Silver is “playing with fire.” Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) is back from Okinawa, Japan, and he’s here to remind us that he, too, is “fuel.” Things are about to get hot.

As for Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), he’s in Mexico, as you may have guessed. And he’s down there looking for Miguel, whom he adores and treats like his own son (Xolo Mariduea). Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan), Johnny’s son, is unwittingly on board (whom for most of his life was neither loved nor treated like it). Lawrence takes out a few MMA bad guys and at least one surfboard on their trip, which is no spring break.

The teaser ends with LaRusso saying, “There’s only one way to end this.” “We need to remove the snake’s head.” It doesn’t take long for Chozen to realize what that means. You were warned about that whole “gasoline” thing, Daniel-san.

Courtney Henggeler, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Vanessa Rubio, Peyton List, and Tory (played by Courtney Henggeler and Mary Mouser, respectively) also star in Season 5 of “Cobra Kai,” as do Kenny (played by Dallas Dupree Young), Oona (played by Devon) and Griffin (played by Griffin Santopietro) in Season 4. (as Anthony).

“Cobra Kai” Season 5’s official logline is as follows: After the All Valley Tournament’s shocking results, Terry Silver is expanding the Cobra Kai empire and attempting to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. After a karate lesson with Kreese being put behind bars, Daniel LaRusso was forced to rely on an old friend for help.
