Lexi’s (Maude Apatow’s) play has come to an end, as has Season 2 of Euphoria. Eight episodes in, viewers have seen Rue (Zendaya) battle with addiction, the Jacobs family break apart, the blossoming of the romance between Fez (Angus Cloud) and Lexi, and the betrayal of Maddy (Alexa Demie) by Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Nate (Angus Cloud).
There’s little doubt that Lexi’s savage, the truth-telling play had a profound impact on the final episode, which picks up just where it left off. Euphoria Season 2 ended with a bang, and Newsweek has all the details on who made it through, who didn’t, and who almost made it.

Euphoria Season 2, Episode 8 Recap
He’s Just A Kid! Don’t Shoot!
In Euphoria Season 2, Episode 8, Ashtray (Javon Walton), Faye (Chloe Cherry), and Custer (Tyler Chase) all find themselves in a tense situation in Fez’s house.
Fez suspected something was off with Custer just before he was going to leave for Lexi’s play in Episode 7. Ash and Fez appeared to have figured out that Custer was working with the police, and the audience was aware of this.
Contrary to popular belief, Faye stayed true to Fez and Ash throughout their ordeal, proving the doubters wrong and ultimately turning them into the authorities. Laurie (Martha Kelly) was framed for Mouse’s murder, with Custer accused of working on Laurie’s behalf.
Ash, armed with a knife, stabbed Custer in the neck in a matter of seconds. Fez covered Custer’s lips as he died on the couch after realizing he had been recording the entire conversation with his phone on the table.
As Fez tried to make sense of what had just happened in his living room, his thoughts wandered back to all the harmless chats he’d had with Lexi about their futures. As for Lexi, it was about juggling motherhood and demanding work; as for Fez, it was about juggling three children and a farm.
Fez informed Ash he would take the blame for Custer’s death and begged Ash to grab his belongings and flee.
It was only when the police arrived that Ash decided to take cover in the toilet, prepared with a variety of weapons and ready to fight or flee.
With Fez screaming, “He’s just a kid, don’t shoot!” during a horrific battle between the cops and Ash, it became clear that neither of them would go down without an epic fight.
Despite Ash’s heroic efforts, the police shot and murdered him, as Fez, who had been hit by one of Ash’s bullets, stood helplessly by.
Fez and Faye were taken away in handcuffs before they could make it to Lexi’s play. In the season finale of Euphoria, the audience saw Fez for the last time and it appears that no one else is aware of what happened at his house. What will happen to Fez and Faye, or will they frame Laurie? Season 3 of Euphoria, due in 2024, will reveal all.
Cassie’s Meltdown
Cassie, on the other hand, is enraged by Lexi’s portrayal of her and her new lover Nate on stage and the ramifications it has had on their relationship.
After a scene showed Ethan (Austin Abrams) performing a homoerotic performance to Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For A Hero,” Nate stormed out of the theatre and ended his relationship with Cassie.
When Cassie got back to the auditorium, she marched up to the stage and disrupted the play to aim at her sister. The woman chastised Lexi for “living in her shadow” and “not living her life.” After fiercely accusing Lexi of merely wishing to be the focus of attention, Cassie stated that she was pleased to play a villain in her life.
She started to go downhill and said, “Is this a scene where I steal Jake from Marta?” referring to their past romance with Nate (the fictional character of Jake in the play), who had dated Cassie’s fictional character, Martha (Maddy). However, that tidbit of Cassie’s life was not in the play, and she accidentally outed herself to the entire school.
A member of the audience called out to the stage, “It’s time for Maddy to speak up.” Maddy took matters into her own hands as Cassie lashed out on stage, culminating in the Euphoria fans had been waiting for. Yes, Maddy did smack Cassie, slam her against a wall, and break her toe in the process.
When Cassie disclosed that Nate had broken up with her seconds before she went on stage, Maddy said, “Don’t worry, this is just the beginning,” liberating herself from Nate’s grip and Cassie’s turmoil.

Nate’s Revenge
Finally, an arc of redemption for the twisted and complex Nate Jacobs was revealed in the finale in a way that no one expected.
Cal Jacobs (Eric Dane), his estranged father, lived in the warehouse of his building site after abandoning his family. With a revolver drawn, Nate walked in on his father and a bunch of people, some of whom were his age, some of whom were older, and some of whom were of a similar sexual orientation, hanging around.
Cal’s guests were shocked when Nate revealed to them that he grew up watching recordings of his father having sex with “hookers” when he was 11 years old and that he shared it with his father. Not content with that, Nate told his father he’d been having nightmares about his father having sex with him ever since that fateful night.
“Dad, have I ever told you this?” My life has been dedicated to protecting you, yet instead of loving me, you despise and resent me “Nate proclaimed.
In the end, Cal was unable to make amends with Nate for everything he had done wrong. It was only as Nate spoke that the blue lights of the police cars outside closed in on his father’s building that he realized what he was saying.
Nate had a revolver and a USB drive with all of Cal’s video recordings on it in his palm. He thanked the authorities for arresting his father even as Cal implored him to stop walking and thank him.
Rue’s Alive
The good news is that Rue’s life appears to be returning to normal. In the season finale, she’s still sober and working her way through a long list of apologies.
But first, she needs to make amends to two people and express gratitude to one person.
to let him know that she had forgiven him for joining Jules (Hunter Schafer) for telling her mother that she had been using again, she went to see Elliot (Dominic Fike). It may have been an accident, but I believe you saved my life,” Rue confessed sobbingly.
“I think your play was the first time I was able to look at my past and not despise myself,” Rue said, thanking Lexi for including her narrative in her performance. Both of them talked about what it was like to be in mourning over their father and missing each other. Forget about the Rules and Fexi; Rexi has gotten her act together.
Following Lexi’s final play, Jules approached Rue, and Rue had to confront him. Remaining composed, Jules broke down in tears and told Rue how much she missed and loved her, but she was met with silence. When Jules broke down in the theatre, Rue simply kissed his forehead and walked out of the room, leaving Jules to sob.
The rest of what occurred to Rue was revealed as she made her way through the school, and it appears that she continued on her journey without Jules for some time.
“I cherish the memory of my first love, Jules. I don’t know whether that’s true, because I think I was high for too much of it and I know it wasn’t easy for her to deal with. I sincerely hope she accepts my apology “Rue told a story.
As the show ended, she added: “For the rest of the school year, I stayed clean. I’d like to think that was my choice. Some aspects of it were simply more convenient than others. Even if it doesn’t, I’m going to keep trying to make it last. Maybe Ali (Colman Domingo) was right when he stated, “The concept of being a decent person protects me from being a bad person.”
Since Euphoria Season 3 has already been approved, Rue’s tale will be able to move further.
