Disenchantment, which premiered in 2018 and went into development in 2016, was not as popular as Matt Groening’s previous work in The Simpsons or Futurama, but it still has enough of a following to warrant a return to Netflix in 2022.
There were a lot of surprises and cliffhangers in the third season, which premiered back in January 2021 and set the stage for a big fourth season (or Part Four as it is listed on Netflix). After a long wait, hopefully, this season will provide answers to many unanswered questions and begin to connect some narrative threads that have persisted since the first season.

When Is the Disenchantment Season 4 Release Date?
Disenchantment’s fourth season will be available to stream on Netflix on February 9. ‘Love Is Hell’, written by Bill Odenkirk, is the show’s first episode (The Simpsons).

How Did Disenchantment Season 3 End?
This fantasy satire is more about continuity than Groening’s other work. For example, the fourth season picks up right where the Season 3 finale left off.
Bean, also known as Princess Tiabeanie Mariabeanie de la Rochambeau Grunkwitz and voiced by Abbi Jacobson, is back in Dreamland after being in Steamland for a while. She is now Queen, which is a dangerous and important job.
Before she can be a matriarch, though, she has to deal with her evil mother, Queen Dagmar, and her plans for another trip to hell, this time for what looks like a wedding.
The trailer suggests that Bean’s character will change this season, with her taking her role as queen seriously and realizing that the fate of her kingdom is in her hands. Bean has to deal with strange dreams, a cranky father, and the mystery of her family’s curse while she worries about usurpers and rebellious elves.
Elfo, Bean’s best friend and a rude half-elf voiced by Nat Faxon, was last seen giving himself up to a group of Ogres in the season finale to save Dreamland from their anger. We don’t know how Elfo will get out of whatever punishment the Ogres have planned for him, but if he’s lucky, he’ll be back in Dreamland by the end of the first episode.
At the end of season three, Bean’s demon Luci, who is voiced by Eric André, is stuck in heaven against his will because he gave his life to save Bean from her mother. We don’t know how the imp gets out of heaven, but the trailer shows that he will soon be with Bean, even though he has trouble keeping his head on his body.
Family Drama:
In the season finale, King Zg, played by John DiMaggio, admitted himself to the “Twinkle Town Insane Asylum” following a series of mental breakdowns and near-death encounters. Dreamland is seen to be his new home, with him returning there to help his daughter manage the kingdom and taking up residence in a monastery.
Sharon Horgan as queen Dagmar continues to wreak havoc on the lives of the characters, trapping Bean and presenting her as the bride of an unknown evil entity on an elevator to hell. It is hoped that this season, Dagmar’s agenda, Bean’s new abilities, and the family curse will all be explained.
Trouble In Dreamland:
Maurice LaMarche’s character, the Dread Pirate, and the adventurous elf Leave, who appeared in season one, had discovered the legendary Elven capital of Candyass in Dreamland. Elves commanded by Rulo (also LaMarche) are ready to take back the seat in the trailer and reclaim Dreamland as their home, and this establishes a dangerous precedent for those who live there.
A secret society commanded by Prime Minister Oval, spoken once again by LaMarche in Dreamland Castle, continues its efforts at manipulating all levels of government and royalty to achieve its goals. As hinted at in the series season finale, Oval and the Seekers were aware of the curse befalling the royal family and would play an active role in learning the truth about who conjured the curse, what it is, and how to remove it. Alva Gunderson, played by Richard Ayoade, the leader of Steamland, a rival nation, and steampunk utopia, has yet to reveal his ambitions. A battle between Steamland and Dreamlands appears to be inevitable after Bean’s betrayal in season three.
How Many Episodes Will Disenchantment Season 4 Have?
Each episode in Season 4 of Disenchantment is expected to be between 20 and 40 minutes long, as has been the case with prior seasons.

Will Part 4 Be the Final Season of Disenchantment?
Despite the increased stakes in season four, no word has been given on whether this will be the final episode of Disenchantment. As for the future of the program, creators Matt Groening and Josh Weinstein (Gravity Falls) have claimed in interviews that the ending has already been prepared and is not far off.
The future of Disenchantment rests solely on Netflix’s decision to permit the show’s creators to make more seasons. Netflix has not confirmed that there will be more Disenchantment, but Groening is convinced that there will be more.
Fans of Disenchantment may hold the key to the show’s future, given Netflix’s history of canceling beloved cartoons (Bojack Horseman’s untimely demise still stings). Wishing them the best of luck.
