This philosophy is the fuel that keeps her going. In vain, she has her class build more contraptions and has Mr. Morton organize yet another egg drop competition. Gregory cautions Janine that her arrogance is tainting her work. It’s true that the level of science that Mr. Morton teaches is above what her second graders can handle. Janine is responsible for persuading them that they will fail to reach their objectives.
Barbara, meanwhile, harbors resentment toward Tameika’s mother. The mother responds to Barbara’s request to cover up her expletive tattoo by zipping up her sweater, which also bears a swear word.
