“As indicated in our help page, the planned decommissioning will solely affect DLCs and online functionality. They’ll still be available to current purchasers, so they can repurchase or redownload them.
When these games’ online services are deactivated on September 1, 2022, our teams will be working with our partners to update this information across all marketplaces and will also be examining all available options for players who will be affected.
As long as we can, we’re going to do everything we can to ensure that the greatest possible conditions for players can be maintained for our heritage titles, and this is what we’re working towards.”
It’s not certain whether or not Assassin’s Creed III Remastered will remove Liberation’s inclusion as part of its remastered release in 2019.
The only way to play Liberation HD on Steam after September 1 is to acquire Assassin’s Creed III Remastered and start from the beginning with Liberation Remastered.
In 2012, a PlayStation Vita spin-off called Liberation was launched, and in 2014, it was rebuilt for consoles and PCs as Liberation HD. This version of the game will be taken down from Steam.
