Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, which includes the Scottish singer’s new hit single Forget Me, is set to be released on May 19, 2023.
It follows Capaldi’s critically acclaimed debut album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, which was the best-selling album in the United Kingdom in both 2019 and 2020.
In addition, the 26-year-old has announced a North American tour for the spring of 2023.
Speaking about the upcoming release, Capaldi said: “I don’t want to create a new sound for myself, or reinvent myself. “The songs I want to write are emotional songs, about love or loss.”
Forget Me received over two million streams within 24 hours of its release and is now approaching 100 million streams globally, making Capaldi only the third artist this year to have a single debut at the top of the UK charts in its first week.
“It’s about a break-up I had where, after a year, the only real contact I had with my ex was seeing her ‘post-me’ life play out on her Instagram,” Capaldi explained of the song.
“I was in a pretty bad place, and she seemed to be moving on and having the best time, thriving, and I despised it.”
“It seemed unfair to me that she appeared happy while I was in pain, and I was afraid she had completely forgotten about me, so I wrote a song about it.”
The singer recently revealed that he suffers from Tourette’s syndrome and has had Botox treatment in his shoulder to help control his tics.
During an Instagram Live last month, he opened up about the diagnosis, explaining that he is still learning about the condition, which causes a person to make involuntary sounds and movements known as tics, according to the NHS website.
Capaldi admitted he was relieved to learn he has the condition because he had feared he had a degenerative disease.
The general public will be able to purchase tickets for his North American tour beginning Friday at 12 p.m. local time.
