The Road to Manifest Season 4 on Netflix

Let’s take a look at the route to season 4 of Manifest first.

The first episode of Manifest premiered on NBC in 2018 with Flight 828 taking off. NBC’s 9th most-watched show of the season, the series captivated viewers. The second and third seasons were ordered, although viewership had declined significantly.

Season 1 had an average of 12.61 million viewers, but by the time season 3 aired, that number had decreased by more than half.

In the summer of 2021, Manifest’s fate was sealed and Netflix’s timeline with the show began.

After the season 3 finale of Manifest aired on June 10th, 2021, NBC decided to terminate the show. Seasons 1-2 of the sitcom were licensed to Netflix on June 10th, 2021 by Warner Brothers Television (the show’s major owner), as we initially reported.

In both the United States and Canada, the show’s first two seasons were made available on Netflix, and it quickly became a popular series. The fact that the show remained in the top ten of Netflix’s most popular shows for weeks was the first indicator that it was popular.

94 days in the US and 78 days in Canada have elapsed since September 17th, 2021, when the show debuted in the US top 10.

A flurry of press reports claiming that Manifest was America’s top show of the summer (even though this has been contested) sparked discussions about a possible resurrection.

As of September 12th, seasons 1-3 have been seen at least 214,520,000 million hours in the United States and Canada since the show’s comeback on June 27th.

In the end, an agreement was struck, and the final season was revealed on August 28th, 2021, after weeks and months of negotiations (and plenty of insider notes from Deadline).

On August 21st, 2021, Netflix added the third season on their service, with Canada following soon after.

The Hollywood Reporter’s in-depth investigation into the show’s cancellation and renewal reveal that 25 million people had seen it on Netflix in the first 28 days after its debut.

With the majority of the cast’s contracts had expired, Netflix had to make sure they could bring the show back if they choose to renew it.

That brings us to what we know about Season 4 thus far.

Everything We Know So Far About Manifest Season 4

On August 28th, the series was resurrected, and several important elements were made public.

Let’s have a look at those:

  • Episodes from Season 4 will be released in two or more parts.
  • It’s expected to premiere on Netflix in November 2022 (more on this in a moment) for the first part.
  • The fourth season will be available exclusively on Netflix worldwide.
  • Though it’ll be rolled out gradually around the world, Netflix has acquired the global rights to Seasons 1 through 3.
  • In late September 2021, Hulu and Peacock will lose the show.
  • Manifest’s fourth and final season will air in 2015.
  • The final season of the show will be directed by Jeff Rake.
  • Among the new season’s executive producers are Robert Zemeckis, Jacqueline Levine, Jack Rapke, and Len Goldstein.
  • With the help of Warner Brothers Television, Compari Entertainment, Netflix Productions, and Universal Television, the show has been put together.
  • Season 4’s final 20 episodes have been described as “extremely graphic” by Jeff Rake in the aforementioned THR piece.

Season 4 could contain a time jump, according to some theories. Given that the series’ end date in 2024 will coincide with the individual’s death, this makes logical.

Maybe he’s referring to the increased funding that the show will receive for season 4. From $4 million to $5 million, each episode’s budget is going up, Puck News reported today.

Manifest Season 4 Plot

There were many twists and turns along the way, and I’ve always had a lot of big flag-in-the-sand — things that would happen. While it’s great news for the fans, the fact that I’ve been given 20 episodes means I can now use the complete roadmap that I had mapped out in front of me and overlay it over these episodes. Fundamentally, I’ll be able to tell the story I’ve always planned to tell.

Manifest Season 4 cast

As we mentioned earlier, one of the biggest challenges in renewing the show was getting the actors on board.

Ahead of Netflix renewing the show, Jeff Rake was interviewed by AllYourScreens regarding the cast contracts and said:

the actors were requested to extend their contracts for a few weeks after the programme was cancelled so that the studio could see if anyone else was interested in picking it up.” Actors generously extended their contracts for a few additional weeks. Finally, the contracts ended, and no one was instantly standing up to take their place.

As a result, these performers are currently working as independent contractors. In other words, finding a partner to continue producing the show would be simply one more hurdle we’d have to clear.

In addition to Josh Dallas and J.R. Ramirez, Melissa Roxburgh was the first cast member to be announced as returning.

It was announced on September 9th that Luna Blaise, Parveen Kaur, and Holly Taylor will all return. Another player was elevated to regular status: Ty Doran.

NSA Director Robert Vance Daryl Edwards was elevated to series regular on September 10th, according to reports.

The character of Cal, played by Jack Messina, was the show’s most notable departure up until this point. The fact that Cal had been believed to be negotiating doesn’t change that reality.

Even though Matt Long had a scheduling difficulty due to his role in a new NBC pilot, Getaway, he was able to make it. According to Jeff Rake, Matt Long’s reappearance in the fourth season will allow “Zeke to continue his Manifest journey just as originally intended,” as reported by TVLine.

Manifest Season 4 Characters

Several new characters for season 4 have been confirmed through several casting grids.

I am looking for an Asian man in his 50s to 80s. The character must have a distinct accent in their English. He was one of the passengers that miraculously returned to Singapore on Flight 828, where he was imprisoned. Because of the growing anxiety and mistrust of fellow passengers, he is brought before a military tribunal. The Singaporean authorities later executed him. Captain Kate Bowers informs Michaela Stone of his death, and her decision to resign is influenced by this.
One of the passengers on Flight 828 was Kyle Boyd. White and Hopi Tribal members.
Minor characters Tela and June. A native of the Shinnecock Nation, Tela, is “infirmed in a hospital bed,” whereas June is a native of the Hopi Tribe.
