‘Outer Banks’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far!

I can’t wait to see what happens next! In April 2020, Outer Banks premiered on Netflix and has been eagerly awaited ever since for the next chapter.

The streaming platform confirmed that a second season of the teen drama was in the works just three months after it premiered. The Outer Banks’ official Instagram account teased, “See you in the Bahamas,” at the time.

According to showrunner Jonas Pate in April 2020, “Netflix had greenlit” the team to begin work on season 2 scripts “before [season 1] even came out” because “we always viewed it as something that was probably like four seasons, maybe five seasons show, but definitely four seasons.”

John B. (Chase Stokes) and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) are attempting to flee the police after John B.’s father (Charles Esten) frames him for murder in the final episode of the first season. However, fans should not rule out a triumphant return to the islands despite their escape from North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

Pate told the outlet that the Pogues believe John B. and Sarah have been murdered. This gave us the opportunity to explore some dramatic possibilities before we were able to bring them back together,” he says. Having the Pogues together is a highlight of the show for us. This is when we think the show is at its most effective.

“There will definitely be some new mysteries and some new ideas,” the producer continued. When it all comes together, it all stems from a single narrative thread, but it twists and turns in unexpected directions.

All three Pogues who starred with Stokes in season 1 are returning for season 2: J. J. Pankow, Pope Jonathan Daviss, and Kiara Madison Bailey. All of the original cast members, including Cline and Esten, are returning, as well, as are Austin North (Topper), Drew Starkey (Kelce).

It was confirmed in May of 2021 when Netflix released the first official images from the up-and-coming season that new episodes will air that summer on their service. Cline hopes that most of the audience will remain spoiler-free, despite the many theories that fans have about what the characters will get into in season 2.

As she stated to Entertainment Tonight in November of 2020, “I want people to watch this without knowing too much”. As the stakes rise and the mystery deepens, “I want people [to be] going into it kind of blind, but the mystery deepens.”
