Break out in hysterics of delight! To celebrate its 34th anniversary, Shark Week is bringing back more than 20 hours of original content for the first time. There will be “larger breaches and even bigger results from global teams of devoted scientists in the field,” according to Discovery.
New locales in the Bahamas and Papua New Guinea will be featured during Shark Week this year, as well as cutting-edge shark technology. In a statement, Discovery said, “Fans can expect 25 adrenaline-inducing original episodes that provide never-seen video of walking sharks, awe-inspiring breaches, and more terrifying predations.” There will be plenty of other celebrities this year, as there have been in prior years. Who is the Shark Week 2022 Master of Ceremonies?
Shark Week’s first Master of Ceremonies, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has been named. Announcing his appointment as the inaugural @SharkWeek MASTER OF CEREMONIES on Instagram, The Rock wrote: “Honored to be your first ever. We’ve teamed up with @Discovery to bring you a VERY SPECIAL (and kick-ass) SHARK WEEK from @SevenBucksProd. The gorgeous predator AUMAKUA (gods) are profoundly adored and respected in our Polynesian culture, where I filmed entirely.
Shark Week’s first five nights will be kicked off and closed with a special message from Johnson. Aside from informing viewers about what they can look forward to on television that night, the actor’s messages will also tie them to his history and the significance of sharks in his culture and life.
Which Celebrities Will Appear on Shark Week 2022?
In addition to the sharks, this week’s television program will also feature several well-known celebrities (in addition to The Rock). This year’s Shark Week will feature visits from Schnapp and Morgan, as well as the casts of Impractical Jokers (James Murray and Brian Quinn), Sal Vulcano, James Murray, and Impractical Jokers (Johnny Knoxville and Chris Pontius).

Will There Be Shark Content on Discovery Before and After Shark Week?
Even though the most-anticipated TV event of the summer doesn’t start until July 24, three shark specials will only be available on discovery+ before then: Dawn of the Monster Mako, The Haunting of Shark Tower, and Great White Intersection (wt).
Podcast apps will also have shark content that fans can listen to if they like sharks. The Shark Week Podcast comes out for the first time on July 18. Luke Tipple will host the podcast, which will “take listeners on a dive to learn little-known facts about sharks before the big week.” The best part is that the podcast will keep going with new episodes every week after Shark Week is over.
