Stephen Bonnar Cause of Death: UFC legend Stephan Bonnar, 45, has died of “presumed” heart issues. The UFC revealed on Saturday that the American had passed away on Thursday, December 22. (24 December).
An official statement from the mixed martial arts company said, “The UFC family is grieved by the unfortunate passing of UFC Hall of Famer Stephan Bonnar [on] Thursday from apparent heart issues while at work.”
Bonnar began his MMA career in 2001, and he competed for the UFC from 2004 through 2012. Once he had only fought once for Bellator, he retired in 2014.
In the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, Bonnar made his debut in front of a UFC crowd. As the season came to a close, Bonnar lost to Forrest Griffin in a fight for the light heavyweight championship.
