The 11th and final season of The Walking Dead are here, and you can bet it’s going out with a bang.
Scott Gimple, The Walking Dead’s chief content officer, gave some key hints about what to expect and how the world will spread beyond Hilltop’s borders at the presentation.
As he put it, “There’s a lot of exciting story remaining to tell on TWD, and then this ending is going to start something else – fresh new stories and people, familiar names and places…new voices…new mythologies,” he explained. “After this, there will be a slew of brand new shows. Evolution is upon us, and it’s time to get ready for it. The zombies are still around.”
Although The Walking Dead’s ratings have dropped overall, the zombie apocalypse is far from ended, but as the maiden ship prepares to bow out, there is a lot of ground to cover.

The Walking Dead season 11c release date: When will it air?
After being released in three parts, Season 11 is finally complete.
Part one premiered in 2021, and part two will premiere on February 20, 2022.
The third and final group of episodes have not yet been given a date for the distribution.
AMC in the US airs new episodes on Sunday nights, while STAR on Disney+ airs them the following Monday in the UK.
There will be a total of 24 episodes in the entire season.

During an interview with TVLine, Kang said: “When we start [the final season], we’re rocking and rolling, we’re back to being big and scope-y. For the first half of the show, things are going to feel like they’re going at breakneck speed, and then we’re going to experiment with some new tonal stuff, which we hope will be exciting for the audience.”
“Every narrative will have its vibe as we encounter more than one kind of new community,” she continued. As a result, some of these episodes may explore genres that haven’t previously been touched upon in the series.
Even in the last season, I hope that it will feel like we’re constantly discovering new things but also that we’re just moving forward.”
After the mid-season finale in October, she talked more about Season 11’s second half, in particular the lingering tensions between Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
Maggie and Negan have a complicated past, and Kang said to Deadline that he and the other of the show’s writers were eager to explore their narrative from day one.
As a result, these kinds of situations might lead to interesting encounters. My own opinion is that it expands our storytelling options, and I believe that Jeffrey does an outstanding job portraying Negan, a character that I have thoroughly liked writing for. Even though you’ve seen him in several settings, “Maggie has also evolved,” he explains.
Judith and Gracie are stranded in a flooding basement, while Carol, Aaron, and Connie are caught out in a storm in the latter third of the final season. And, as Kang explained to Insider in October, it’s not even the conclusion to season 11A that she had intended because of Covid-19 constraints.
When it came to plotting out Episode 8, she explained, “We had a very different kind of episode planned, and we had to get pretty pragmatic about what we could do.” If the viewer does not know what goes on behind the scenes, then these kinds of decisions will likely go unnoticed.
This has been a new experience for us. We need a new approach to planning. To mask our constraints, we have to use different sites. To keep everyone safe, “we just go with the flow,” he says. “It’s for the greater good.”
Kang also gave a preview of what viewers might expect in the season’s final episodes.
For the most part, we’ll keep it suspenseful with only a few twists and turns and revelations. As we continue to build towards a conclusion, we can only hope that everything is there for everyone.
There are characters like Daryl who find themselves in situations that are so different in some ways from ones they’ve previously encountered, Kang said.
To get around this, the writers are doing things that are uncomfortable for their characters, because their characters have a sense of security and a sense of belonging within a little circle, and they’re having to broaden their horizons.
That’s what I think a lot of our characters are struggling with within a general sense.” Of course, there’s the normal fun stuff we get to do in our show, like scares and the like.”
In the second half of the season, you may expect a big shift in tone.
“The first 10 episodes were all about Maggie’s narrative, and how we tried to deal with it as a group.” Norman Reedus stated, “And then all of a sudden, it’s like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory because we did a one-eighty” (via ComicBook).
All of us are engrossed in The Exorcist right now, and it’s as if our brains are whirling around in circles. All of us are now Linda Blair. Something like that happens when you go from a black and white western to a technicolor Willy Wonka movie.
He’s indeed protecting the kids a lot, but he’s also protecting Maggie a lot, according to him. This season, while Maggie is going through a difficult time, he decides to be a part of her journey and watch over her.
A broader battle “turns into something altogether else,” says the actor of Daryl’s story. When it comes to protecting individuals, I believe he’s taking care of them and doing his best to keep them safe.

The Walking Dead spinoffs
We already have World Beyond and Fear the Walking Dead, and it’s been announced that we’ll get a Daryl and Carol spinoff and a Rick Grimes movie featuring Michonne in the works.
“We’ll be telling storylines with Michonne again,” Gimple said to Collider.
“In many respects, the beginning of the story was the end of her on the series.”
When it comes to movies, “we are playing around with it in all sorts of areas,” said Gimple. When the epidemic struck, we had the opportunity or the necessity to do so.
There is still a lot of it going on. Involved: Andy [Andrew Lincoln]. Robert Kirkman, the creator, is heavily involved. It is moving forward. Because of the way things are now, we’ve been granted a little breathing room. “We want to get it right,” they say.
