Jaylen Waddle (born November 25, 1998) is an American football wide receiver for the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins (NFL). He attended Alabama and was drafted sixth overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 2021 NFL Draft.

A career in high school
Waddle went to Bellaire Episcopal High School. He participated in the US Army All-American Game as a senior. He committed to playing college football at the University of Alabama. He chose the Crimson Tide over Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State, TCU, and Oregon on National Signing Day in 2018.
Professional career
The Miami Dolphins selected Waddle sixth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, bringing him and Tua Tagovailoa back together. Waddle committed to a $27.1 million contract with the Dolphins on May 14, 2021. Waddle made his NFL debut on September 12, 2021, against former Alabama teammate QB Mac Jones and the New England Patriots. Jaylen Waddle caught four of his six targets for 61 yards and scored his first NFL touchdown on a three-yard pass from Tua Tagovailoa in a 17-16 victory over the New England Patriots. His first big break came in Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers when he finished with 137 receiving yards as the Dolphins won 33-10. Throughout the season, Waddle became known for his waddling celebrations after touchdowns, which were inspired by his last name.

Career in college
Jaylen Waddle received the SEC Newcomer of the Year award in 2018 as a true freshman at Alabama after accumulating 45 receptions for 848 yards and seven touchdowns. Additionally, he returned 16 punts for 233 yards and a touchdown as a punt returner. For his sophomore campaign in 2019, Waddle rejoined the Crimson Tide. He has six receiving touchdowns and 33 receptions for 560 yards. In addition, he scored on kickoff returns of 98 yards and 77 yards, respectively, against Auburn and LSU. In addition to being named SEC Special Teams Player of the Year, he was selected for the first team All-SEC as a return specialist. Waddle suffered a broken right ankle on October 24, 2020, after being tackled while returning the opening kickoff in a game against Tennessee. Waddle came back to play against Ohio State in the national championship. Waddle declared on January 14, 2021, that he would forgo his senior year and instead declare for the 2021 NFL Draft.
