Who is Jonah?

Jonah Greenway is a paramedic who is assigned to Station 118 following Chimney’s departure to locate Maddie. Rather than choosing a permanent replacement, Bobby seeks out paramedics to temporarily stand in for Chimney. Jonah first serves as a temporary replacement for the crew of 118. However, a chat with Athena convinces Bobby that he should expedite the process of locating a permanent successor for Chimney. He peruses various profiles in search of a suitable candidate but ultimately chooses Jonah due to his efficiency on the job as a temp.

Even though Jonah is an excellent paramedic with a commendable work ethic, Hen grows uncomfortable when he reserves a seat near her in the ambulance. She misses her long-term work partner Chimney, and her grief at his departure manifests itself as rage toward Jonah. He is abrasive and unapproachable in front of the new paramedic, and even confronts Bobby over Chimney’s replacement. By contrast, Jonah tells Hen that he would work diligently enough to gain her respect and adoration. Rather than being offended by Hen’s actions, Jonah recognizes his superior’s motivations.

Jonah is also old enough to recognize that he cannot in any way replace Chimney. He assures Hen that he will not attempt to fill Chimney’s shoes. Given the difficult period, Hen is going through individually, Jonah’s understanding and maturity may help her move forward, at least until Chimney returns. She may discover a trustworthy friend and coworker in him, which may even put an end to her sporadic bouts of depression. Jonah is a logical addition to the Station 118 team, especially given his compassion for his colleague.
