According to Comicbookmovie.com, During the Blu-ray audio commentary for his film, director Peyton Reed confirmed that M.O.D.O.K. would be introduced in future Marvel Studios productions, as had been previously rumored. “MODOK has been patiently waiting. I’m aware that ‘How do you bring him in?’ has been a topic of discussion for other Marvel films. “We discussed Kang’s need for, if not a henchman, at least information regarding the Pyms, the Langs, and the Van Dynes,” Reed reveals that he came up with the concept of making Cross a version of the antagonist, which writer Jeff Loveness enthusiastically supported.

I think that was day one when we met. I’m like, ‘Oh, that makes perfect sense.’ And then I just had a jumping-off point from there.”
