On Thursday, the Arizona Diamondbacks said that Nicole Hazen, the wife of general manager Mike Hazen, had died at the age of 45.
The team said that she died because of problems caused by glioblastoma, a rare type of cancer.
Mike, her husband, and their four sons Charlie, John, Teddy, and Sam are the only ones who will remember her.
“Nicole lived her life to the fullest and loved her family with all her heart,” “in a statement, the Hazen family said. “As a mother, wife, and teacher who fought for good, she spent every day helping other people. Our family will always be thankful for the love, support, and random acts of kindness that have been shown to us over the last two years and four months. Without the help and generosity of our community, we would not have been able to walk down this road with her. Glioblastoma slowly took away her ability to talk, walk, talk, and lead, but it never took away her ability to love her children, family, and friends. We are lost without her, but from now on, we will carry on her unwavering compassion for everyone.
The following is what the Diamondbacks said about Nicole Hazen:
“Nicole was a loved member of the D-backs family, and we are saddened by her death. Mike, Charlie, John, Teddy, Sam, and the rest of their extended family are in our thoughts and prayers. Nicole will be remembered for being full of life, being kind, and having a smile that could light up a room. Her fighting spirit was clear at every step of her brave journey and in her efforts to make a difference in research and treatment, as well as to give people with a similar diagnosis hope for the future. She will always be honoured and remembered.”
The team said that information about plans to honour Nicole Hazen’s life will be shared at a later time.
