Marvel has postponed Avengers 5, also known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, as part of a significant revision of Phases Five and Six. The conclusion of The Multiverse Saga will be marked by the release of Avengers: Secret Wars, which has been postponed by one year as a result of all the events.

When Can We Expect Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?
According to The Direct, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which will now be released in theaters on May 1, 2026, has been postponed by Marvel as previously reported. Avengers: Secret Wars has also been postponed from May 5, 2026, to May 7, 2027, a change of one year from its initial release date of May 2, 2025.
While the exact date of filming is still unknown, we do know that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing and that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness is penning the screenplay. Who Could Be in Avengers the Kang Dynasty?
Given the title, it is believed that Jonathan Majors will return as Kang the Conqueror, however, he is currently accused of assault, which he denies. Marvel hasn’t made any public statements about Majors’ position in the MCU yet.
The original Avengers team has been almost entirely dismantled: Thor has taken off into space with the Guardians, Black Widow, and Iron Man are dead, and Captain America is an elderly man. However, it is commonly known from movies and comic books that the Avengers lineup is flexible.

Any MCU hero could potentially be selected at any time. Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will require a crew to lead if she is to become the helm of the MCU as promised, presuming Marvel can figure out how to use her other than sending her across the galaxy occasionally.
Hawkeye and Hulk are the only remaining members of the original team of heroes; Sam Wilson, who has assumed the role of Captain America, is no longer known as Falcon. There are several potential replacements for the current roster of heroes, including Spider-Man, Valkyrie, War Machine, Winter Soldier, and Doctor Strange.
There have been rumors that movies based on the New Avengers, Young Avengers, and the Dark Avengers the team’s evil counterpart are in production. Marvel might use the humorous Great Lakes Avengers or maybe the West Coast Avengers.
Any of these would present a chance to build on and revitalize the Avengers’ legacy. In particular, the Young Avengers would be introduced, which would be a step in the right direction for Marvel as it continues its long journey toward representation.
Young Avengers volume 15 contains America Chavez’s coming out as a lesbian. One of Scarlet Witch’s children, Wiccan, also comes out as gay and begins dating Hulkling, a different young Avenger. Prodigy, an African American bisexual hero, and Nor-Varr, a “not entirely straight” character who dates Kate Bishop, round out the group.
By allowing people from diverse backgrounds to identify as superheroes, the inclusion of these characters in the MCU would help to create a true depiction of modern society.
Given that the TV shows are now more deeply woven into the MCU than ever before, it’s possible that they’re all laying the groundwork for the Young Avengers to be revealed. Kate Bishop joined the MCU with the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
She is after all a founding member of the Young Avengers, so it seems safe to introduce her in a TV series before preparing her for a big-screen debut. It appears like Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will at least make a cameo.
Unless he made a mistake during his interview with Wired. Discussing the early days of the franchise, Hemsworth catapulted himself into the future. Hemsworth said.
“I didn’t really know, none of us did, if it was gonna work, or if there was gonna be an extension beyond that first film into Thor 2, 3, 4 or Avengers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, It was all just an idea and a dream. And one that I was on board with.”
What Will Avengers the Kang Dynasty Be About?
Even though nothing is official just yet, Kang’s identity and his motivations were extensively explored in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumia. The Kang we had met in the Quantum Realm, who was trying to get out and back into the normal-sized reality, was crushed to death, it seemed.
But, the film’s mid-credit scene revealed an entire council of Kangs, including the real big bad, Immortus, who, having summoned ‘all of us’ Kangs, rallies them by saying: “They will take everything we built, so let’s stop wasting time.”
