The three-year wait for Jack Ryan Season 3 felt like its own impossible mission. Since the release of its second season in 2019, the spy thriller series has been teasing its third season. Finally, we have a release date: the series will be available this winter. Not only that, but there have been several updates to the brand-new season of the Prime Video original series. But more on that later.
Ryan, Jack Season 3 follows the CIA’s star analyst-turned-spy on yet another explosive mission, full of tension and thrills. The second season concluded with Ryan’s perilous experiences in Venezuela and his narrow escapes, as well as some unanswered questions.
All of this and more will be addressed in the third season. If not, there is always the upcoming fourth season to look forward to. Yes, it is taking place! According to reports, the fourth and final season of the series will premiere sometime next year.
The political action thriller, starring John Krasinski, is based on novelist Tom Clancy’s eponymous series and was created by Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland. Krasinski is also one of the show’s executive producers and will direct the third season, which sounds promising given his success as a director with The Quiet Place and its sequel, both of which he wrote and directed.

How Many Episodes Will Jack Ryan Season 3 Have?
Season 3 of Jack Ryan is expected to have eight episodes, each lasting approximately 50 minutes. The previous two seasons followed this pattern, and the latest third season will most likely follow suit. You can keep an eye on this space for the most recent updates on Jack Ryan Season 3 episodes.
Who’s In the Jack Ryan Season 3 Cast?
The ensemble cast, which includes some of the most well-known names from both the small and big screens, is one of the series’ best features. The first two seasons featured several stars, and the third season will do the same. While many faces from Seasons 1 and 2 will not be seen again, Jack Ryan Season 3 will almost certainly see the return of some of its major characters.
Needless to say, Krasinski reprises his role as Dr. Jack Ryan (Ph.D. in Economics), a Marine veteran and CIA financial analyst. He begins with the T-FAD (Terror Finance and Arms Division) department and is later promoted to the division’s head, now working on Capitol Hill. Ryan’s character in the series is said to be based on Harrison Ford’s portrayal of Jack Ryan in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger.
Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are also reprising their roles. Pierce plays Ryan’s boss and field partner, CIA agent James Greer. Greer was suffering from heart problems when we last saw him and will most likely take a break from fieldwork. Kelly will also return as Mike November, the CIA station chief in Venezuela who assisted Ryan and Greer in escaping a major riot on their previous mission.
For the third season, James Cosmo, Peter Guinness, Nina Hoss, and Alexei Mavelov join the cast. Cosmo portrays Luca, Guinness portrays Petr, Hoss portrays Alena, and Mavelov portrays Alexei.
Betty Gabriel is joining the cast as Elizabeth Wright, Chief of Station, replacing Marianne Jean-Baptiste from previous seasons. Michael Pea is set to appear as a regular in Season 4 and in at least one episode of Season 3 as Domingo “Ding” Chavez, a CIA agent who appears frequently in the novels. There is talk of a Chavez-focused spin-off.
When and Where Was Jack Ryan Season 3 Filmed?
You’d think that the delayed release is due to a delay in filming. On the contrary, filming for Jack Ryan Season 3 began in May 2021 in a variety of international locations, including Prague. Given the globe-trotting nature of Ryan’s missions, the third season should feature yet another set of stunning locations. That is not all. The fourth season’s filming began in February 2022, with locations in Croatia.
What Is Jack Ryan Season 3’s Story?
Although this series revolves around many of the same characters, each season is a different story with a new mission, giving the show an anthology feel. Season 3 will see the CIA agent in a new location with a new goal, just as Seasons 1 and 2 had their own events that took him to different parts of the world.
The new season will also, and most likely, address Ryan’s personal life. We never found out what happened when his offscreen relationship with Cathy (Abbie Cornish) ended. Except for a passing mention of his single status, the reasons for Cathy’s absence in Season 2 are never revealed. Though she is not expected to appear in the third season, there have been rumours that she may appear in the fourth and final season. As a result, this could be another angle to explore in the third season.
