Late in March, Netflix debuted The Night Agent, the new political thriller from The Shield producer Shawn Ryan. It debuted to rave reviews and instant viewership, rocketing to number one on the top 10 charts; it performed so well that it was renewed immediately.
After receiving a single phone call, Peter (Gabriel Basso), an FBI agent working the night action desk, is drawn into a dangerous conspiracy. With millions of viewers still binge-watching The Night Agent, here’s what we know about Season 2 expected cast and characters.

Night Agent Season 2 Cast
Who would return to The Night Agent for Season 2? A few cast members are likely to return for Season 2 of The Night Agent:
- Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland
- Luciane Buchanan Rose Larkin
- Hong Chau as Diane Farr
- Christopher Shyer as Vice President Redfield
- Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington
- Sarah Desjardins as Maddie Redfield
In an interview with Variety, Ryan, and Basso, Basso said:
“I discussed Season 2’s codename for Peter. “I have complete faith in Shawn so that I will defer to his judgment on this matter,” “I am so in love with this show, and I so want to make future episodes. But it is a little torturous to think too much about that before it happens, so I haven’t thought about it. But it’s a great point. We are going to have to figure it out if we do get a Season 2. Rose’s aunt and uncle were Sidewinder and Gazelle, so we’ll have to figure out what the perfect avatar for Peter is.”
Is The Release Date For The Night Agent Season 2 Confirmed?
The second season of The Night Agent will premiere on Netflix in 2024, but a specific release date has not been announced. Given that the first season premiered on March 23, this is a remarkable turnaround for the series.
Ryan, as reported by Netflix, stated:
“The last week has been a whirlwind as we’ve finally been able to share The Night Agent with the world. “To see the tremendous reaction to the show has been a great joy and is a credit to our cast, our writers, our directors, our crew, and our partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix. We couldn’t be any prouder or more excited to get cracking on Season 2 to share the further adventures of Night Action with our newfound fans.”
What Is The Storyline Of Agent Season 2?
The first season of The Night Agent concludes in a way that leaves things open for Peter and Rose. In the final episode, Peter and Rose say their goodbyes after saving the day (and the President) from VP Redfield and Diane Farr’s assassination plans. Peter is about to embark on his first secret mission as a Night Agent. He has no idea where he is going or his assignment, but he promises to call her as soon as possible.
A member of The Night Agent’s team Tweeted about the second season. The Tweet is shown below.
This time last year I was on set to help bring this show to life. Now I get to sit back, relax, and spam you all to watch it so we get a Season 2 ಠ_ಠ

Ryan confirmed that he’s already thinking about what Peter might do after the finale scene and what it might mean for his relationship with Silicon Valley CEO Rose. A second season could follow Peter on his mission and possibly pair him with Secret Service agent Chelsea Arrington, who assisted him in foiling the presidential assassination in the first season.

Elsewhere on the show, we’re sure a bullet hasn’t stopped Diane Farr (Hong Chau) from plotting her way back into the White House, even if it seemed more likely at the end of the series. Gordon Wick (Ben Cotton), the infamous mogul who slithered away from any consequences at the show’s end, is another character to watch.
