You should think twice about walking on someone’s lawn in 2022, because that was The Old Man’s year. The FX thriller came out of nowhere to become one of the year’s best new shows, breaking Hulu records and no doubt setting itself up for Emmy success next year (it was released just outside of the eligibility period for 2022).
The Old Man stars Jeff Bridges as Dan Chase, a former CIA operative forced to come out of hiding when an old adversary seeks vengeance on him. Dan’s old friend and FBI Assistant Director Harold Harper, played by John Lithgow, leads the efforts to apprehend him. The Old Man is an old-fashioned thriller with plenty of action and twists that has us excited for Season 2.

The Old Man Season 2 Release Date
FX ordered a second season of The Old Man on June 27, 2022, shortly after its third episode aired. There’s no timetable for a second season, but we’re hoping for the series to stay on a yearly track, which would put Season 2’s release sometime in the summer of 2023.
What Will The Old Man Season 2 Be About?
Season 2 will almost certainly begin immediately after the Season 1 finale, when Dan Chase and Harold Harper set out to rescue Angela/Emily (Alia Shawkat) after she was kidnapped by Faraz Hamzad. How could it not? But, now that Dan and Harold are finally together, creators Dan Shotz and Jonathan E. Steinberg told Deadline that they are eager to explore more of what happened in Afghanistan with Dan and Harold could that story be the flashback thread in Season 2? by seeing the past through their eyes.
You can also bet that Angela/Emily will quickly discover who her biological father is. “We never want a character to be too far behind the audience as a general rule. So that’s coming up fast for her “Deadline spoke with Steinberg.
Who Will Be in The Old Man Season 2?
Obviously, Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow will return, and given how The Old Man Season 1 ended with many stories still unfinished the majority of the main cast will return. Those who did not survive the finale good-bye, Agent Raymond Waters (E.J. Bonilla) will almost certainly not return for Season 2.
Those who are concerned about Zoe’s presence in Season 2 need not worry. Despite the fact that Dan abandoned her to pursue his daughter, Shotz says Zoe and actress Amy Brenneman will “definitely be back,” and she has a very exciting story in Season 2. And the big question: Will Dan’s Rottweiler dogs return in Season 2 of The Old Man? Absolutely! “I’m not sure The Old Man is a show without the dogs,” Shotz admitted.
