Why Did Gibbs Shoot Mcgee: Every Possibility Explained!

On Tuesday night, Season 18 of NCIS resumed with two episodes, one of which had a romantic comedy vibe and the other did not. What did you think of the season premiere’s explanation for why Gibbs shot McGee?

We are not here to recap this week’s first episode, as delightful as it was, in which Tim and Delilah had their most enjoyable time together in a while by helping to solve a case in the Bahamas. No, we are here to discuss the second hour, which jumped us forward three months to the same timeline as the season premiere’s teaser, in which Gibbs shot McGee from an airport sniper’s perch.

Why Did Gibbs Shoot Mcgee?

Has Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) become a rogue agent? When Gibbs uses his sniper skills to eliminate Timothy McGee in the Season 18 premiere of NCIS, titled “Sturgeon Season,” this question arises (Sean Murray). In an attempt to prevent McGee from preventing a private jet from taking off, he does not kill him but shoots him twice, once in the arm and once in the thigh.

Everyone is aware that Gibbs never misses his mark. As a top-tier sniper, his goal is not to kill McGee but to prevent him from completing his mission.

After the shooting, the episode jumps back one year and picks up an old thread involving Gibbs and former FBI agent Tobias “T.C.” Fornell (Joe Spano) forming an unofficial partnership. They take this action to bring down the “head of the snake,” i.e., the leader of the drug ring that supplied drugs to Fornell’s daughter in Season 16.

Are Both The Incidents Related To Each Other?

Could it be that the two incidents share a common thread? Because it appears that the logo on the private jet’s tail matches the logo on the key fob that Fornell discovered after the episode.

Fornell and Gibbs had been attempting to trace the guy who was delivering the counterfeit oxy to a clinic back to the source. Still, when the delivery guy ended up dead — it’s unclear if Fornell killed him or simply discovered the body — Fornell took a key fob from the body and then cryptically told Gibbs, “Give me two weeks.”

Possibility That Gibbs Was Not The One Who Shot Mcgee

There is also the possibility that Gibbs did not shoot McGee. This is another theory. Never once do we see him pull the trigger on the gun. The only thing we see of him is him standing on the rooftop with the rifle. However, it seems like that is a long shot.

Since the 400th episode of NCIS will air the following week and will be another flashback story about how Gibbs and Ducky (played by David McCallum) met, we will have to wait a few weeks for the resolution of the first episode to be shown on the show.
